Construction Theft: A Guide to Reporting Theft
On June 22nd, 2023, SNHBA and the Metropolitan Police Department hosted a construction theft meeting. At this meeting we had outstanding attendance from our members along with other personnel from the City of Henderson Police Department
and the North Las Vegas Police Department.
We would like to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Sheriff Kevin McMahill for relaunching such an important task force for the construction industry. Through his leadership and tenacity, the LVMPD was able to put together a
task force that is dedicated to eliminating the number of theft and crime that happens everyday.
We would also like to thank the City of Henderson and the North Las Vegas Police Departments for their constant collaboration in reducing construction theft and crime.

- Report Filing Instructions for the HPD.
Who to contact AFTER filing a police report?
Please keep in mind that the HPD has several detectives. Once the sergeant has reviewed the case, they will forward it to a detective to work the case. This detective will then reach out to the builder point of contact. This is when the detective will give you their contact information.
What Can You Do?
- Keep track of serial numbers for major appliances per address. In case theft occurs, keeping track of the serial numbers will allow police to detect your item with certainty that it belongs to you.
- Place trackers inside your appliances, equipment, etc. In case theft occurs, placing a tracker on items that are more likely to be stolen will allow you to be notified if something is stolen and detect its current location.
How to stay informed?
SNHBA has created a google map that will allow any of our members to actively see where construction theft is occurring. If
you experience any construction theft, please make sure to email Melany Quintero at Melany@snhba.com. Before you email Melany, please make sure to send Melany your police report OR fill out a quick SNHBA Incident Report so that she can post the theft on the SNHBA construction theft map.
